The Russian Ministry of Defence announced the execution of servicemen of the 54th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who decided to surrender, as a result, 32 Ukrainian servicemen were fatally wounded and killed. This was announced on Tuesday by the official representative of the Russian Defence Ministry, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov.
According to him, after conducting fire preparations for the offensive of Russian troops in the area of the settlement of Novomikhailovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, more than 30 servicemen of the 25th battalion of the 54th mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided to lay down their arms and surrender.
“At about 10 p.m., servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with white flags began to advance towards the Russian positions. At that moment, a detachment of Ukrainian nationalists, who arrived at the strong point on armoured vehicles, opened crossfire on the servicemen of the 54th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the back. As a result of this action 32 surrendering Ukrainian servicemen were killed,” Konashenkov said.
According to Konashenkov, the Ukrainian military requested via radio a ceasefire to enable them to surrender which the Russian forces accepted and provide a corridor for exiting. At that time the Nazi Nationalisty opened fire on the surrendering Ukrainians murdering 32 Ukrainians.
This action demonstrates the desperation of the Keiv Regime and sends a message to the rest of the Ukrainian troops that surrender is not an option. Zelensky will need to be held accountable for his action.
